Recipes & Food

  • A fun & delicious way to learn family history. By eating the food, cooking, & learning the techniques of how these dishes were made, students will be able to connect with their roots.

Hobbies – BEING MORE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF

  • When we pick up an old hobby, the nostalgia and joy it brings might come naturally. Doing something worthwhile often takes time.

Rediscovering old hobbies and passions can be a truly rewarding experience. There is something magical about revisiting familiar activities that once brought us joy and excitement. Whether it’s playing a musical instrument, painting, or even gardening, immersing ourselves in these pastimes can evoke a sense of nostalgia and help us find joy in the present moment. In this section, we will explore the reasons why revisiting old hobbies can be beneficial and provide some tips on how to reignite your passion for these activities.

Jobs

  • If you lived 100 years ago, what job would you want to have? Would you have been happy as a farmer? What about as a factory worker? What other jobs that existed a century ago would have captured your imagination? Have fun thinking about the way back when and what you might have done for work.

Connections: Family Tree & Transportation

  • The students will learn about past & present and they will understand the connections between times. As a practical activity they will create their own Family Tree made in the shape of a Christmas tree. Also, to better understand the evolution of transportation in time, we shall organize a trip to the Railway Museum.

Clothes & Hats

  • Clothes in Victorian Times (Hats, costumes, uniform etc.)
  • Looking at past fashions — including clothing, accessories, and fashion magazines, can actually reveal quite a lot. What kinds of activities did our ancestors do day to day, and what social attitudes did they have? What did people in earlier eras think about their personal image, and what were their standards for beauty? How did they differentiate themselves from others, in terms of class or profession? Answers to all of these questions and others can be found through looking at historic clothing and accessories.
  • We shall take a glance to the past playing with hats: ‘’Hats through History’’ is the name of the game. We invite all students, teachers and parents to wear a hat representing a time from history. But not only that, be ready to answer a few questions about that time as well!
  • From what period is your hat ?
  • What does it represent?
  • Why did you choose this specific hat ?
  • On what occasions do you wear this hat? (for example: a walk in the park, during a visit/tea time etc.)

School

  • Victorian school – similarities and differences between past & present (our school): uniform, lunch time, punishment & consequences, rooms, subjects, habits.

Music & Dance

  • Students will cooperatively research music from the past 5 or 10 decades and compare and contrast the lyrics with historical events/culture of the decade.
  • They will explore the music and lyrics from different decades and its connection to the events or cultural influences during those years.
  • Charitable event Music & Dance over time together with our parents & grandparents.

Toys – How have toys changed over the years?

  • Technology has changed a lot around toys and how they are made. For example, old toys from the past may have had some clockwork or small movements, but lots of new toys today have batteries, screens and speakers.
